Microtransactions in videogames
Hello again !
Last time we talked about advertisements in videogames industry,Now it's turn
for the other side of the same coin. Microtransactions !
microtransactions in video games are a topic that ignites passionate discussions.
They have become an integral part of the gaming industry,
but opinions about them are as diverse as the games themselves.
Let's explore both sides of this contentious issue.
Microtransactions often enable developers to provide ongoing support and updates for games.
This constant flow of revenue allows them to continue creating content,
fixing bugs, and maintaining servers long after the initial release.
Fortnite is the perfect exemple of this type of monetisations,
and Epic games know it perfectly !
Microtransactions often revolve around cosmetic items that allow players
to personalize their gaming experience. This doesn’t affect gameplay but allows players
to express their individuality within the game world.
But not everything in microtransactions is good!
Microtransactions sometimes offer in-game advantages or items that
give paying players a significant advantage over non-paying ones.
This can create an imbalance and affect the competitiveness and fairness of the game.
Some games employ manipulative strategies to encourage spending,
especially targeting younger or more vulnerable players.
These tactics can lead to excessive spending, commonly referred to as “whales”,
who spend exorbitant amounts on microtransactions.

dividing the player base between those who can afford to access the additional content and those who cannot,
