Hello again !

Remember seeing Obama on a billboard in "Need for Speed Carbon" back in 2008?

It turns out, lots of players who loved that game would've voted for Obama.

Games have had these ad things for a while now. Some fit well, but others, not so much.

Let's check out where this all began and why it's happening.

The first ads in games showed up in "Adventureland."

It was a text game and had ads for stuff like Coca-Cola and Adidas.

After that, ads in games just became a thing.

Then came "Rainbow Six Siege" showing real brands like Red Bull and Logitech.

It kind of set the way for ads in games.

Nowadays, ads in games can be sneaky. Sometimes,

you barely notice them, like when your game character wears a shirt with a brand logo.

Other times, they're a big deal in the game, like having real car brands in racing games.

Some games even make you use real products as part of the game, like drinking a special energy drink.

As games got fancier, ads did too. Now they can change based on how you play or what you like, making them more personal.

Good Stuff:

Feels Real: Ads that fit well make the game feel more like real life.

Helps Game Makers: Ads bring in more money for the people who make games, so they can add more cool stuff.

Adds Fun: Sometimes, playing with brands in games can be fun and make the game better, like in Fortnite with all its ads.

Not-So-Good Stuff:

Can Be Annoying: Ads that bother you while playing or don't fit in can be annoying.

Ethical Worries: Some people worry about ads that bother younger players or are too pushy.

Ruins the Game's Look: Ads that don’t match the game’s style can mess up how the game feels.

Ads in games are part of gaming now. They can make games more real and help the people who make games earn money. But they have to be done right, so they don’t bother players or make games less fun. Finding the right balance will be super important for ads in games to keep both gamers and advertisers happy.
